Requirements before you begin

A short check so the rest goes smoothly. Five minutes now saves an hour of wondering why the panel is empty later.

You need

  • Jira Service Management on Atlassian Cloud. Second Chance is a Cloud-only app.
  • Project administrator access to at least one Jira Service Management project. You enable the app per project, and the coverage report is admin-only.
  • A knowledge base connected to your service project. Second Chance reads the customer-facing knowledge base your portal exposes. If your project has no knowledge base yet, the panel and the coverage report have nothing to match against. If you want to show suggestions to customers on the portal, the matching articles also need to be published to the portal, since restricted and internal articles are never shown to customers.

You do not need

  • Confluence as a separate install. The app reads the knowledge base through Jira Service Management directly. There is no Confluence app to add and no spaces to pick.
  • Any external account or API key. Nothing connects to an outside service.
  • A migration or a data import. The app reads what is already there.

A quick way to check your knowledge base

Open your customer portal and search for a common term. If articles come back, Second Chance has something to work with. If nothing does, add a few articles first. The app can only surface and measure knowledge that exists.

Where to next
