Installing Second Chance
Installing Second Chance
Installing is one step. There is nothing to configure at install time, and nothing appears on requests until you deliberately enable a project.
Install from the Marketplace
- Open the Atlassian Marketplace listing for Second Chance for Jira Service Management, or find it from inside Jira under Apps → Explore more apps.
- Select Get it now and confirm the site you want to install it on.
- Review the permissions it asks for and approve them.
That is it. The app is now available across your Jira Service Management projects, switched off until you enable it on the ones you want.
What the permissions are for
The app asks for a small, read-shaped set of permissions. In plain terms:
- It reads issue details and your knowledge base, so it can surface relevant articles after a request is submitted.
- For agents, every search runs as that agent and respects their access. For customers on the portal, the search runs as the app but only ever returns articles already published to the portal, so customers never see anything they should not.
- It sets one small per-project flag, so it knows which projects you have switched it on for.
- It stores its own settings and your coverage report.
Nothing here lets the app change, resolve, or close your requests, nor edit your articles, and nothing sends data outside your tenant.
Nothing happens yet, and that is on purpose
After installing, you will not see anything new on a request. Second Chance stays invisible until an admin enables it for a project, so it never clutters a ticket before you have decided where submitted requests should get that final self-service opportunity.
