Overview

If you have just landed in this documentation, this is the right place to begin. You do not need a technical background to get value from these pages.

Asset Sync for Google Sheets is an add-on that runs as a sidebar inside Google Sheets. You connect it to your Atlassian site, pick a schema from Jira Service Management Assets, choose the object types and attributes you care about, and it writes the objects into your spreadsheet as a report. When you want fresh data, you refresh the report yourself with one click. This section explains what that means before you install anything.

What is in this section?

What is Asset Sync for Google Sheets? The short version of what the add-on is, who it is for, and why a spreadsheet is often the right window onto Assets.

What it does and does not do Scope matters. This page is plain about the boundaries, including why the import is one-way and why refresh is a button rather than a schedule.

How it works A plain-language walk through what happens when a report runs, so nothing in your sheet is a mystery.

Read them in order. They take about six minutes combined.

Where to next

When you have read the three pages above, head to Get started to install the add-on and build your first report.
